Dead Bird Reporting
*THE WCHD IS NOT CURRENTLY COLLECTING BIRDS FOR WEST NILE VIRUS TESTING.* As of September 14, 2020, the WCHD has ended its testing of dead birds for this season. Please keep in mind, West Nile Virus was detected in birds and mosquitoes in Winnebago County this year, so all residents are encouraged to continue taking preventative measures to avoid spreading mosquito borne diseases. The WCHD will resume collecting birds for testing in Spring 2021.
To report the location of a dead bird, please complete the form below. If you do not know the exact address for the location of the bird, please provide a detailed description in the "Comments" box (i.e. the nearest intersection). The WCHD greatly appreciates reports from the community in our West Nile Virus surveillance. However, time restraints and limited resources do not allow us to respond to every report.
