Health Screening Outreach Initiative
The Health Screening outreach initiative of the Black Male Health program is focused on providing basic diagnostic screening to Winnebago county residents who are the most medically underserved and represent a large percentage of the health disparities in our community.
This initiative utilizes funds from the Black Male Health Program to provide free blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and PSAs (Prostate Specific Antigen) screenings to the community. The screenings are delivered by professional health-delivery personnel and trained lay community members.
This health initiative has also been successful in creating positive, working relationships with physicians, and healthcare organizations, facilitating medical referrals as appropriate.
