Well Child Exams
PrintAs an expanded service to our immunization visits, the Pediatric Program of the Winnebago County Health Department is offering a well-child exam for your child. This exam will be provided by a registered nurse with specialized training in pediatric assessment. It includes a review of health history, head-to-toe physical examination, developmental screening and administration of needed baby shots. Hemoglobin and blood lead testing will also be available as needed.
The nurse will also provide information to prepare you for any changes to expect as your child grows, ways to prevent injury and illness, how to support healthy eating habits and other issues. Additionally, the nurse will point out any areas that require further attention by the child's doctor. Children with illness will need to be referred to their physician for any treatment. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your child.
As some health insurances don't cover the cost of well child exams or immunizations, this is an effort to assure that no child goes without a well-child exam due to lack of coverage. *A fee will be charged - based on sliding scale - for family size and income. Medicaid and AllKids insurance are also accepted.

|
Any child is eligible. Target population are those infants and young children without insurance coverage for well child care, who are not otherwise getting these exams.
These exams are not valid
for day care or school entry. |
