
Benefits and Compensation
- Wage/hours for position:
o Increases Oct 1 when possible. Merit based system and/or standard base raises.
o .25 ¢ Longevity raises for every 2 ½ years of service up to 10 years. At the completion of your 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, and 40th year of service, you will receive a .50 ¢ longevity raise.
o Normal working hours are Monday – Friday 8 - 5, Flex schedules for some programs are offered during the summer or if program requires.
- Employees are required to use their own autos for travel
o Compensated at 50.5 cents per mile – Employee must log mileage on travel reimbursement sheets. This rate is subject to change and is set by the Federal government.
o Driver’s License and Good Driving Record – Copy made at orientation.
o Operable Vehicle Available.
o Liability Insurance is Required – Copy made at orientation.
- Provided to employees:
o Health Insurance Package for Full time employees – Personal Care which is a HMO or River Valley ECOH or Blue Cross/Blue Shield which are PPO’s. We also have two high deductible Health Savings Accounts available which are Blue Cross/Blue Shield and River Valley ECOH. They will be in effect after successful completion of 90 day Introductory period. Employees will sign up for health insurance at the County HR Orientation.
o Life Insurance – Free for Full-time (40 hour) employees - $20,000 policy.
o IMRF pension plan – mandatory, 4 1/2 % of gross salary. Vested after the completion of your 8th year of service. County contributes a percentage.
o Educational Reimbursement: $50 per credit hour/$25 per book for coursework not directly related to the employees job, with a maximum of 6 semester hours per school year. $100 per credit hour/$50 per book for related courses with a maximum of 12 semester hours per school year. Must be employed for one year prior to reimbursement.
- Available to employees:
o Deferred Compensation (Great West).
o AFLAC - Life, Cancer, Immediate Care Insurance.
o Rockford Municipal Employees Credit Union (City Hall or CountyAdministrationBuilding).
o Direct Deposit of payroll check.
- Benefits:
o 13 paid Holidays per year - 2 are Floating Holidays which are Spring Flex Day (previously called Good Friday) and Veteran’s Day. Health Department is open on these days and if you work that day, you bank it to use at a later date.
o 6 hours Sick time per month (prorated for part-time).
o 2 hours Personal time per month (prorated for part-time).
o Vacation Accrual: 1-6 years is 2 weeks, 7-14 years is three weeks, 15 - 24 years is four weeks and 25 years or more is five weeks.
o Jean Day every Friday for $1 to benefit Employee and Client programs. Must wear jean day sticker from Supervisor/Director.
- 90 day Introductory Period
o Passing introductory period initiates health insurance.
- Drug screening is required through Brookside Immediate and Occupational Care located at 1215 North Alpine Road for new employees.
o Test must be taken within 48 hours of pre-offer of position.
o Pre-employment physical and/or background checks may be required for certain positions. They will be scheduled through the Health Department’s Human Resources department.
- References provided? Can all references be contacted? If no, which cannot? Official transcripts required for degreed positions. Request transcripts as soon as possible. They must be on file within the first month of hire.
