WINNEBAGO COUNTY MRC-conducted classroom courses
Course Description: Psychological 1st Aid Classes (recommended for all responders – especially Mental Health providers / Social Workers, Counselors, Nurses and Educators). Psychological First Aid includes basic information-gathering techniques to help providers make rapid assessments of survivors’ immediate concerns and needs, and to implement supportive activities in a flexible manner. Psychological First Aid relies on field-tested, evidence-informed strategies that can be provided in a variety of disaster settings. Psychological First Aid emphasizes developmentally and culturally appropriate interventions for survivors of various ages and backgrounds. Psychological First Aid includes handouts that provide important information for youth, adults, and families for their use over the course of recovery. The class is a full day - from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm (coffee, water and snack provided. Counselors, Nurses and Teachers can receive 6 CEU’s for a fee of $10 upon completion. General CEU’s – free if you register with me, or $10 if you register on-line with RVC.
These classes are facilitated by Winnebago County Health Department staff and/or Winnebago County Medical Reserve Corps volunteers.
