A: To find out what positions are available at the Health Department, click on “Job Postings” on the "Home" tab of this website (above-left).
Q: How do I apply for one of the positions posted on your website?
A: You may submit an application on-line by clicking on "Submit an Application" under the "Job Postings" section of the Home Page; or, you may come directly to the Health Department at 401 Division Street. Applications and Job Descriptions are available at the reception desk (to the right when you enter the building).
Q: Does the County HR Department have a job posting hotline?
A: Yes! The County HR Department does have a job posting hotline, which lists all the current job openings throughout the County. Jobs that are posted for the Winnebago County Health Department can be applied for on-line or by going to the 401 Division Street building and asking for a job application at the Reception Desk (to the right when entering the building). Jobs posted for all other departments within the County, can be applied for at the County HR Department located at 404 Elm Street in Rockford (first floor). To hear what jobs are currently available, call the hotline at (815) 987-3600, ext. 7900. Jobs are updated on a regular basis.

A: Yes and those minimum requirements are listed on the job description.
Q: Can I see a Job Description before applying for a job?
A: Yes you can. For jobs that are posted on this website, you can view the Job Description by doing the following: go the “Home” tab, click on “Job Postings”, then under “Information” click on the title of job you are interested in.
Q: Can I find out how much a job pays before applying for it?
A: Health Department hourly rates and job levels are listed on the job postings.
For all other Departments within the county, you will need to make a separate inquiry at the County HR Department located at 401 Elm Street.
Q: If I want to go to the Health Department or to the County HR Department to apply for a job, what time should I go?
A: You may go anytime from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
Q: If I apply for a position, does that mean that I'm guaranteed an interview?
A: No, you are not guaranteed an interview simply by applying for a position. Since the County receives numerous applications for any open position, only the most qualified candidates will be called for an interview. The supervisor in charge of hiring for any particular position will review all applications received and contact those who qualify for an interview.
Q: If I am hired as a full-time employee at the Health Department, what are the normal working hours?
A: Regular working hours for a full-time position at the Winnebago County Health Department are 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday.
