With summer in full swing, Back to School time may seem like a lifetime away. This important time in every child’s life will arrive before we know it, and parents across Winnebago County will need to get their children ready in a number of ways. One way they need to be prepared is physically, with the required health exams - a number of grade levels have required examinations that must be completed by the beginning of school year or right after school begins.

Physicals for grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th, 9th & students new to the district.
Immunizations for grades: Pre-K up through 12th. Dental exams for grades: Kindergarten, 2nd & 6th.

Without these exams, children may be removed from school - and the appointment books at many doctor’s offices fill up fast at the end of the summer. With this in mind, the Winnebago County Health Department and health partner organizations are proud to offer this year’s 2nd Annual Back to School Health & Safety Fair.

Children and their families are welcome to the new Health Department facility at 555 North Court Street for an afternoon of health focused fun! In addition to health & safety focused activities, appointments are now being taken for physical exams and immunizations (they are not needed for school dental exams). These appointments meet State of Illinois requirements, and fulfill the needs your child has to stay in school uninterrupted. Appointments will be filled on a first come-first served basis, so please make one for your child as soon as possible to ensure them a spot.

School and Sport Physicals $25.00 – Immunizations $16.00/each – School Dental Exams are Free

A fun fair will also take place with interactive health & safety exhibits and demonstrations for children of all ages. Families are welcome to enjoy their afternoon even if they are not making an appointment for services. Stay tuned for updates on participating organizations and more details on this exciting event!
