A seasonal flu shot is recommended for:
* All children 6 months of age up to 18 years of age.
* People 50 years of age and over.
* Women who will be pregnant during influenza season.
* Residents of a long-term care facilities housing persons with chronic medial conditions.
* People who have long-term health problems with: heart disease, kidney disease, lung disease, diabetes, asthma, anemia.
* Physicians, nurses, family members, or anyone else coming in close contact with people at risk of serious influenza.
* Anyone else who wants to reduce their chances of catching influenza.
* Household contacts and out of home caregivers of infants 0 to 5 years of age
* Health care providers
* Household contacts and caregivers of people 50 years and older or of anyone with a medical condition
A seasonal flu shot should be considered for:
* People who provide essential community services.
* People at high risk for flu complications who travel to the Southern hemisphere between April and September, or who travel to the tropics or in an organized tourist groups at any time.
*People living in dormitories or under other crowded conditions, to prevent outbreaks.
Influenza Symptoms:
Sudden onset of fever, chills, muscle aches and fatigue. Persons developing flu like symptoms should drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest and take Tylenol to relieve the symptoms.
NO ASPIRIN FOR TEENAGERS OR CHILDREN SUFFERING FROM FLU LIKE ILLNESSES. Use of aspirin in children and teenagers during bouts of flu or chicken pox has been associated with Reye Syndrome illness. Give Tylenol or aspirin free medication for fever.

The Winnebago County Health Department will bill Illinois Public Aid for the service. **Must present your valid Medical Card and a picture ID at time of service.

$45.00 fee
