HealthWorks of Illinois is a collaborative effort between the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The primary purpose is to assure that DCFS wards, from birth to age 21 who are in subsitute care, receive accessible, essential and quality health care services. HealthWorks of Illinois is a statewide program consisting of Lead Agencies that oversee counties in their area. HealthWorks of Northwest Illinois is located within the Winnebago County Health Department and is a Lead Agency, covering nine Northwest counties of Illinois: Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago.
