The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends an annual flu shot for everyone ages 6 months old and older as the first and best way to protect against influenza.
To help prevent the spread of the flu in our community, the Winnebago County Health Department is offering community walk-in flu clinics:
11/1: United Way Strong Neighborhoods Home, 312 Irving Ave, Rockford - 3-4 pm
11/1: Winnebago County Health Department, 555 N. Court St, 4th fl, Rockford - 3-6:30 pm
11/2: United Way Strong Neighborhood Home, 908 8th Ave, Rockford - 3-4 pm
11/6: Rock River Valley Food Pantry, 421 S. Rockton, Rockford, IL - 1-4 p.m.
11/7: Carpenters Place, 1149 Railroad Ave, Rockford - 10 am-12 pm
11/9: Fairgrounds Head Start, 1015 W. Jefferson St, Rockford - 11-3 pm
11/16: Orten Keys Head Start, 633 Ranger Road, Rockford - 11-3 pm
Quadrivalent Vaccine for 14-64 year olds is $39. High Dose Vaccine for 65 years and older is $62.
If you have a health insurance plan, please check with your provider to ensure flu vaccination is covered.
WCHD accepts: Illinois Medicare, Illinois Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Medicare Replacement Health Insurance, United Health Care Medicare Replacement Health Insurance, Coventry Medicare Replacement Health Insurance, Humana PPO and Medicare Replacement Health Insurance, Illinicare, and Meridian. Please bring your insurance card with you.
Medicare Participants: Please bring your Medicare Replacement card with you if you have one of the plans listed above. Medicare will not pay for the flu vaccination if you are a member of one of the above Medicare Replacement Plans.
