Help Prepare for a Public Health Disaster

Help prepare for a public health disaster by joining in an emergency preparedness exercise. The event, sponsored by the Winnebago County Health Department, Rock Valley College, and the Medical Reserve Corps, 71, will exercise our ability to distribute large quantities of medication to the community in an emergency situation.

Volunteers are needed on Thursday, November 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rock Valley College. Participants will complete a brief health screening and then receive appropriate “medicine” – candy.  Adults and children ages 3 and older who are feeling well on the day of the exercise are encouraged to participate.

“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with area colleges and community partners,” said Theresa James, Center Director for Public Health Preparedness. “The event will help us improve our response to a large scale event while offering our community a chance to participate in the process.”
