Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness. Anyone can get sick with influenza, even healthy people. While most people will just feel sick, some will experience severe illness, and even death.
Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect you and your family from influenza. The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older receive an influenza vaccine this season. Influenza viruses change and immune protection from influenza vaccine declines over time. Even if you were vaccinated last year, it is important to get an influenza vaccine this year to be protected from the viruses most commonly circulating this year.
To get an influenza vaccine, go to your primary care provider,a pharmacy, or a clinic. You can find a pharmacy or a clinic near you by using the CDC Flu Finder here.
